chiptune dubstep house synthwave

Nascens

"Synthwave, chiptune, and house skillfully fused together and set in a cyber punk city-scape." That all sounds very dope and alluring but when executed it is often a cheesy, unsatisfying, disingenuousness dog turd that only vaguley attempts to authentically re-create the retro '80s hardware vibe. This EP is not that! The latest release form Swedish producer meganeko is a 9 song full-length titled "Eclipse" that dropped earlier this year. The songs are not simply an application of tried and tested formula. Every synth line, drum sound, and change up is deliberate. This is an attempt to advance the sound as a whole.+ It's a little...

OMOIDE BASSは未来に繋がらない

OMOIDE BASSは未来に繋がらない

Brimming with all the kawaii bass staples like orchestral sections, adorable sound effects and of coarse that pulsating bass synth but amamori P AKA 雨漏り P brings a lot of fresh ideas to the table with this, their latest EP "OMOIDE BASSは未来に繋がらない". This is their second EP to have dropped in 2020 along with "POP'n Hate" which was released at the end of January. They have also had their work appear on the soundtracks to several rhythm games.  The first half of "OMOIDE BASSは未来に繋がらない" is essentially kawaii vocaloid bedroom pop, drawing clear influence from the city pop sound.  Many of the songs later in the...

Holiday Girl

chiptune cute electronic jazz kawaii

Holiday Girl

"Holiday Girl" by Kshiraki is a soundtrack to the 'chillest Mode 7 SNES racing game' never made. These nine tracks are perfect for staring out of a window and daydreaming. Kshiraki is an electronic artist from Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan with a sassy, sophisticated sound and a charming back catalogue. This is some sunny afternoon pack-a-picnic-and-hold-hands-with-your-homies type shit. Applying jazz fundamentals to chiptune compositions has always been a winning formula. The precise and deliberate constraints in which tracker music is made make riffing on a square wave inherently interesting. Favourite tracks: "Morning Sun" and "Train Travel".  FFO: Derris-Kharlan, Keiji Tamagishi and Elektrobear.  Holiday Girl by KshirakiFind more of their music below!  kshiraki2.bandcamp.com

Funny Script

Funny Script

"Funny Script" is the third release from Twinfield, an electronic music producer and DJ from Kyoto, Japan. Vocaloid beach party kawaii-bass. The audio equivalent of operating a jet ski while high on pressed cap ecstasy. Beautiful melody work and an adorable sound palette are the corner stones of this release and they are consistent throughout. These songs are emotionally uplifting and prime remix material. A special mention for the final track "Kabedon" which is some absolute fast passed, genre fusion madness. Favourite tracks "Bugfix Girl" and "Polymer". FFO: Pinocchio-P, Shina Motta and of coarse Hatsuni MikuFunny Script by TwinfieldFind more of their music below! twinfieldnex.bandcamp.comsoundcloud.com/twinfieldnex...

7 Tunes In 7 Days

7 Tunes In 7 Days

Hospital Records is a UK drum&bass label that has been active since 1996. Recently they released Hugh Hardie's "7 Tunes in 7 Days" which is as you can imagine a collection of songs composed from the ground up, one a day, for seven days. This is Hugh Hardie's fourth release with Hospital and his latest since the 2019 full length "Shadows & Silhouettes". This album is refreshing to see as it is currently very difficult for a lot of artists  (for obvious reasons) to feel any motivation to sit down and create. Track 6 is a collaboration with Shogun Audio affiliates Pola and Bryson and...
